Today’s granny square has come a long way since Grandma’s classic! From messenger bags and bucket hats to filet crochet and intricate afghans, the humble square has been transformed into a modern crochet favorite.

In this class, you’ll go beyond the basics as you learn:

  • The traditional granny square and the solid granny square
  • The foundations of filet crochet and the importance of “crochet math”
  • Why granny squares sometimes skew—and how to keep yours perfectly straight
  • Techniques like the Double Magic Ring, Stacked Single Crochet, and Chainless Double Crochet
  • A variety of creative joining methods for squares

And the best part? You’ll discover a foolproof trick for changing yarn colors with no ends to weave in—ever!

At the end of the class, you will receive digital links to patterns for the Granny Square Boho Bag, the Which Way Filet blanket, and Granny’s Bucket Hat so you can put to practice your new knowledge and skills.
