Join us for a Special In-Store Event with Local Artist Susana Woloson
Discover the intricate art of pysanky, traditional Ukrainian egg decorating, with local artist Susana Woloson. Unlike painted eggs, pysanky are created using a wax-resist method passed down through generations. Real eggs are carefully adorned with melted beeswax applied in fine lines, then dipped into vibrant dyes. With each layer, Susana adds delicate floral patterns and geometric motifs. Once complete, the wax is melted away to reveal the stunning, multicolored designs beneath.
Susana proudly carries on this heritage-rich art form, taught to her by her father, who shared his Ukrainian and Czechoslovakian roots. She has shared her passion with schools, community groups, and television audiences. Her beautifully crafted eggs, along with an educational display featuring the history, symbolism, and step-by-step technique of pysanky, have been showcased in local newspapers and online news features.
These exquisite eggs make thoughtful hostess gifts and are sure to spark conversation as part of your spring or holiday centerpiece. Don’t miss this opportunity to experience a meaningful and timeless tradition up close!
